Investing in Ralph Stout Park
Ralph Stout Park is a gathering place for Johnson County residents and visitors throughout the year. From playgrounds and sports fields to the Farmers Market, community events, family celebrations, and outdoor recreation, the park provides opportunities for people of all ages to play, connect, and enjoy time together.
The Hometown Service Coalition (HSC) is proud to have played a part in strengthening Ralph Stout Park through several projects designed to enhance recreation and create welcoming spaces for our community.
Expanding Recreation Opportunities
In 2023–2024, HSC helped bring a multi-use skate park to Ralph Stout Park. The project included a new skate park, basketball courts, and a concrete walkway, adding new opportunities for recreation and active play.
A New Playground for Our Community
During 2024–2025, HSC partnered with PlayCore, Inc. and the Town of Mountain City to replace the park's aging playground equipment with a new, updated playground designed to provide a safe and engaging place for children and families.
This project was made possible through a state recreation grant, Operation Pocket Change, an East Tennessee Foundation grant, Ballad Health donations, and generous contributions from individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout the community. Together, these efforts provided the funding needed to make this much-needed improvement a reality.
Continuing to Improve the Park
In 2026, HSC continued its investment in Ralph Stout Park by remodeling the park's bathrooms, improving an important amenity for families and visitors.
That same year, with support from an Operation Pocket Change grant, HSC also installed a new scoreboard for one of the park's ballfields, providing an important upgrade for local baseball and softball activities.
Each of these projects represents more than an improvement to a physical space. They reflect what can happen when community organizations, businesses, government partners, foundations, and individuals work together to invest in Johnson County. HSC is grateful to everyone who has helped make these improvements possible and looks forward to continuing to support recreation and community life at Ralph Stout Park.
